Faced with the task of setting up production unit in Poland, while at the same time attending the School of Cinema-Television at the University of Southern California, I had to rely on phone and email communication with my producer in Warsaw in many critical aspects of this challenging process. Ms Kik was on board before I had a chance to meet her personally. Once I arrived in Warsaw, I was very pleased to get to know her. During the shoot, Ms Kik showed a lot of enthusiasm, inventiveness and dedication. She also showed excellent problem-solving abilities as well as communication skills. The cast and crew was partially Polish and Partially American. Thus, the shoot of this film involved also mediating between two different film cultures and two quite different ways of making films. Ms. Kik’s sense of humor and familiarity with the set etiquette made a huge difference for the success of the project. I hope that you will give Ms. Kik most serious consideration if you happen to be in the position of offering her work. She is a very serious, skilled, devoted and passionate filmmaker and a great asset to any production. If you have any question, do not hesitate to contact me.
Sylwia Szczechowicz-Warszewska is one of the most stellar field producers I have worked with during my more than a decade as a documentary filmmaker. During our close work together on a challenging period reenactment shoot in Legnica, Sylwia proved herself to be not only reliable, hard- working, conscientious, thoughtful, and more than equal to any task or problem that arose, but also incredibly flexible and creative. The fact I was still in the US during pre-production wasn’t a problem for Sylwia; she clearly explained to me the production processes unique to Poland, scouted and secure locations, hired an excellent crew, obtained fair prices, tracked and reported every cost, and kept me informed of developments at all times. Needless to say, she is a clear communicator and highly skilled negotiator able to do superior work independently. Once our American crew arrived and we began shooting, Sylwia and her partner Agnieszka Kik expertly managed every production exigency, on and off set. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you’d like more information.
